Melissa Orrom Swan always carries a sketchbook to try to capture moments of life around, taking inspiration from her surroundings in the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside, the sea and the creatures we share this world with. She feels most creative when she is walking in the woods. She has taken part in exhibitions across the UK, and has work in collections in Britain, Europe, the USA and New Zealand.
Melissa’s work explores a wide variety of mediums and processes; sculpting in wire for garden and home; mixed media pieces stitched into vessels and wall-hangings; quirky colourful jewellery made from sea-glass and buttons destined for landfill. She loves the individual outcomes of using different materials and techniques. Her inspiration comes from the natural world of animals and birds, and the countryside near her studio. Commissions welcome and happy to discuss any projects large or small.
